Location: The underground city of Scirocco
Planet: Aster
Unfortunately, due to a technical glitch, the recording of the first session was incomplete. I'll just do a quick review of what happened in the first session. Future episodes shouldn't experience the same glitch.
Kieran and Mae entered the orbit of Aster after weeks of travel along the drifts. The planet below was a heat-blasted marble, the pitted surface rust red and blackened. The Relentless, an Ornithor class ship, easily locked onto the navigation relay for the settlement and Kieran plotted the descent.
The ship passed through large ash clouds, occupants firmly belted into their seats for the turbulent ride. Kieran and Mae could hear the metallic rain clash against the shielding and hull. Kieran piloted Relentless through the clouds and into the hazy sky of the planet. In the distance, a massive super volcano dominated the horizon, so large that it dwarfed the size of the canyon they dropped into.
Kieran followed the navigational markers that led to Scirocco. They passed through narrow canyons before they sighted the landing bay door that was open for their arrival. A scattering of other smaller doors and entryways could be seen nestled in the rocks and cliffs around the bay door.
The bay doors closed behind them as they entered into a large subterranean passage. Nav lights traced a dimly lit path through the tunnel, blinking in the darkness. The LIDAR system and lights of the Relentless provided more than enough guidance as they slipped through the darkness. Within a few minutes they arrived at the large docking bay.
Kieran looked at Mae as he powered down the ship. His eyes heavy with fatigue. "I hope this trip is worth it."
