Session S01 E12

Sojourn on Enigma

Location: Enigma Station
Planet: Deep Space

Ulan swings his hand and points out the door they entered through. "Back that way, to the right, right off the concourse is where I keep my trade goods."  He patted his pockets inside of his robe.

He chuckled.  "Just making sure I still have the passkey! Not using it much these days, Enigma Station is sorta out of the way at the moment."

Mae leaned up against the bulkhead, ignoring the perfectly broken looking sofa next to her.  "Is there a mechanic here?  Our ship is in need of repairs.  We also need a healer."  She crossed her arm, her nose scrunched up as she looked around.

"Yep, we have a mechanic or two and they can take a look at your ship. {Ask the Oracle: Likely - rolled 25}. We don't get many visitors so we do have some things stockpiled.  Healer…well…you got lucky."

"One came in a few months past.  Doesn't talk much, they grabbed a bunk on the other side of the concourse where the old clinic used to be when this was a bit more on-the-beaten-path."  Ulan chuckled again and shook his head. "Ain't been like that in many long years.  Damn grav currents knocking away the asteroids we need for mining."

Laris dropped her bag on the busted sofa and sat down next to it.  "Some rest and relaxation sounds like just what the doctor ordered."  She turned sideways and leaned back, nestling herself into the arm of the couch.

Mae looked down at her. "You have no idea where that couch has been."  She chuckled.

Ulan shooed them away. "it's getting late, I'll drop by the shop and ask the mechanics to take a look at your ship.  Meanwhile, you don't look like you're gonna bleed out so you can visit the Healer in the morning.  Grab some rooms and we'll chat in the morning."  He waved at them again and disappeared through the hatch.

The three found a suite of rooms, two bedrooms that shared a common room, small kitchen and a bath.  They agreed it would be safer to sleep in the same rooms for now - until they determined how safe the station was.  It was a large facility, but in disrepair.  It may support life, but it was also potentially dangerous.

{Repair: Weak Hit - 3 points of repair brings the ship up to full health}

The next morning, they gather up their belongs and make their way through the passage back to the main concourse. At one time it would have been magnificent.  It was multiple stories tall, and easily a couple of hundred meters in circumference.  In the flickering lamps and lights it was a bit melancholic - but in it's prime it would have been a vast space for hundreds to eat, have a drink, or go shopping. The old signs that jutted from the walls were powered down, covered with dirt and grime.

After a few minutes they found the old clinic, dimly lit with a warm glow.  Inside the found the Healer that Ulan had mentioned.  She wore a red and white sash, with the symbol of the red and white cross, across her vacsuit.

"Good morning, I'm Valda Legrand."  She smiled at them.  Over the course of the next hour she carefully treated both Mae and Kieran.  Her expertise showed itself as Valda cleaned and bandaged their wounds.  Her medicines easing aching bones and sprains.  She had a soothing manner, her words reassuring as she treated them with care.

"Strange," said Kieran.  "A competent healer got off a ship, never knowing when the next ship will arrive?"  He shook his head and slung his backpack over his shoulder.

They went and found Ulan, and asked if he knew Juro Mackenson, or where they may get more info.

When you mention Juro's name, Ulan's eyes turned to steel.
